The White House issued a statement that the administration is committed towards American protection from all cyber-related threats to critical infrastructure, economic and national security and public health and safety. China’s Foreign Minister considered the US action as bullying.

Chinese online companies like Alibaba, Baidu and TenCent, the maker of WeChat have a thriving market. The companies have gained foothold in regions like Southeast Asia and Europe. In China, citizens are accustomed to the Chinese-only search engines, ecommerce sites and social media sites.
